LIFE CHANGING DENTISTRY
Straight Teeth
We have clinics in Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Oxford, Liverpool and London's Harley Street.

Are you unhappy with the appearance of your teeth?

Do you have large spaces / gaps between your teeth, crooked teeth or problems with the way your teeth ‘bite’ together?

The team at YourNewSmile.co.uk are able to help you with this. We have a team of highly skilled clinicians who will be able to offer you the best advice to achieve your desired outcome.

There are a range of different options available to straighten your teeth, ranging from fixed braces to removable clear aligners, with our team available to assist you in making the right choice for you.

Some of the options available to straighten teeth are:

Fixed Braces

This is an option where brackets are placed onto the teeth and a series of wires used over a period of team to move the teeth into the ideal position. This is like the traditional ‘train-tracks’, but can be more discreet with the use of tooth coloured brackets.

Clear Aligners

Using state of the art digital planning, a series of ‘aligners’ are created for you to wear. These aligners are individually made for you and are sequenced to gradually adjust the tooth position over the duration of the treatment. You change the aligner at home every couple of weeks and have a review visit with us every couple of months to check progress.

Lingual Braces

Similar to the ‘Fixed Brace’ option but the brackets are placed behind the teeth rather than on the front. A great option to those patients wanting their teeth straightened, without the braces showing.

FAQs

  • How do braces straighten crooked teeth?

Braces use constant, gentle pressure, which over time move teeth into their ideal positions.

  • How long do you have to wear braces for?

This depends on the individual case as each patient is different but the
    factors to consider are:

    • The severity of the crowding / misalignment
    • The type of brace used
    • The patients compliance (Particularly with removable brace options. You must be prepared to wear your brace at all times for this treatment to be as effective as possible, and of course attend regular appointments to have your brace adjusted or your aligner changed) We always aim to offer you not just a quick fix solution but a life long solution. For less severe cases, the result can be achieved in as
      little as 3-6 months.

  • Do braces hurt?

You may experience discomfort which usually lasts about 48 to 72 hours before your teeth are comfortable again. Each adjustment or new aligner you have will mean some minor discomfort. However, patients generally report a reduction in the discomfort as the treatment progresses.

  • Do you have to wear retainers?

Teeth are constantly changing and adapting. It is important to remember that teeth that have been crooked for years have marvellous memories. Minor movement or relapse must be expected, but conscientious wear of retainers following treatment can prevent these changes.

  • Can my appearance be improved?

Teeth Straightening (Orthodontic treatment) can not only achieve dramatic changes in a person’s smile and profile, it can actually make patients look years younger.
